In less than a week, more than 4,000 illegal immigrants have arrived on Lampedusa’s shores, a small Italian island between Sicily and Tunisia. The Tunisians are fleeing confusion following street protests and the Jan. 14 ouster of their longtime autocratic president, Zine Al Abidine Ben Ali.
